Trump, Xi Agree To Settle Taiwan Debate With Best-Of-Three Rock-Paper-Scissors Match

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a historic diplomatic move likely to shape the fate of millions, President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping reportedly agreed Monday to resolve the question of Taiwan’s status through an internationally supervised best-of-three rock-paper-scissors match, White House officials confirmed.

The decision, which both leaders described as “refreshingly straightforward,” came after Trump reportedly suggested the method while discussing other complex global issues. “Frankly, I win a lot at games of chance. People say this all the time. Why not settle it the fun way?” Trump boasted to reporters. “Plus, I hear Xi has a very predictable paper game. Everybody’s talking about it.”

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hu Li, called the arrangement a “breakthrough in East-West relations,” adding, “President Xi is fully confident in his scissors technique, honed during years of high-stakes negotiations.”

According to senior White House adviser Kellyanne Leap, the rules will be enforced by a neutral observer from Norway, and both leaders must agree to reveal gestures simultaneously. “We have taken every precaution to ensure there’s no peeking or cheating. Mr. Trump wanted to play best-of-one, but Mr. Xi insisted on three, simply for the drama.”

In anticipation of the event, the UN has set up a dedicated live stream and merchandising opportunities. “This is what real leadership looks like,” said Trump family friend and game theory enthusiast Billy MacPhee. “Finally, foreign policy I can understand.”

The decisive match is scheduled for next Tuesday, barring any last-minute changes from either participant declaring an executive timeout.
