WEST HOLLYWOOD — In a stunning display of Los Angeles sports brotherhood, Samson Nacua, brother of L.A. Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, was arrested this week after allegedly demonstrating his unique interpretation of the “sharing economy” by taking a Lakers player’s SUV for an unsolicited spin.
Authorities say the 25-year-old Nacua, accompanied by an unnamed accomplice known only as “Lil Cousin Dre,” was apprehended after officers noticed the vehicle being driven at a suspiciously reasonable speed on Sunset Boulevard, a clear signal that something was amiss.
“As a tight-knit sports community, we encourage our athletes and their families to support each other—just maybe not by taking each other’s Escalades,” said Los Angeles Police spokesperson Janet Barkley. “We’re still waiting for someone to explain the group text titled, ‘Who Wants Next on LeBron’s Tesla?'”
Eyewitness Chloe Ramirez, who witnessed the alleged borrowing, was initially unfazed: “Honestly, I just assumed they were switching rides for load management. That’s how the NBA works now, right?” Lakers forward Austin Reaves, whose vehicle was involved, expressed understanding. “If Samson posts a triple-double at my next pickup game, we’ll call it even,” he commented, adding, “But if he left a protein shake in there, he owes me big.”
Puka Nacua, reached for comment, said only, “Samson always did have trouble distinguishing between ‘borrow’ and ‘steal.'”
Charges are pending, though sources say the case may settle if the Lakers get to drive Stafford’s Audi for a week.
