Iran Suggests Trump Ignore Netanyahu, Consider Settling Disputes with Rock-Paper-Scissors Tournament Instead

In a bold diplomatic maneuver, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has urged President Trump to bypass Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and instead seek nuclear peace with Iran via direct negotiation—or, failing that, with an internationally supervised rock-paper-scissors tournament.

“President Trump, you seem to enjoy summitry and photo ops,” Araghchi wrote in an open letter published Monday. “Let us settle this like adults: with best-of-three and no funny business. Frankly, our regional partners trust this method more than they trust Netanyahu’s telephone games.”

US officials appeared hesitant, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warning, “The President only agrees to games where he is guaranteed to win, or at least can claim he did on Twitter.” Netanyahu, meanwhile, told reporters, “I’m fine with any method as long as Israel gets to be ‘rock,’ the strongest shape. But Iran cheats. Everybody knows Iran cheats!”

On Capitol Hill, Senator Lindsey Graham expressed cautious optimism. “Frankly, I’d prefer a global game of Twister to another Middle East conference. Besides, the President is undefeated at rock-paper-scissors—he once beat Jared Kushner five times in a row. That’s the kind of leadership we need.”

Iran also suggested, should Trump decline, that Mike Pence might be more open to “out-of-the-box” diplomacy, perhaps by settling things with an arm-wrestling match. White House aides report that President Trump is currently consulting Ivanka for strategic advice on hand gestures.
