In a stunning display of Southern hospitality and logistical creativity, LSU announced Wednesday that newly-hired offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. will not only coach Ole Miss through their College Football Playoff semifinal against Miami, but will also be permitted to water the plants in Lane Kiffin’s office, check Kiffin’s mail, and finish a few Netflix shows for Ole Miss before making the move to Baton Rouge.
“We want Coach Weis to have a seamless transition, and if that means he needs to quickly coordinate a playoff game and maybe vacuum the Ole Miss locker room one last time, so be it,” explained LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward, noting that modern college football demands “flexibility and a willingness to coach two teams at once if necessary.”
Weis, juggling offensive playbooks and forwarding addresses, expressed gratitude for the understanding. “I’m just thankful both schools have agreed to let me Zoom into staff meetings from the sideline, as long as I don’t call LSU plays while wearing Rebel gear. It’s all about maintaining focus and not mixing up maroon with purple and gold.”
Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin remained unfazed by the arrangement, telling reporters, “People always say we don’t play defense, so why not let our offensive coordinator work for two teams at once? This is just the next logical step.”
NCAA officials are reportedly considering new transfer portal rules requiring departing coaches to complete a minimum of three chores and one group project for their former school before being fully released from contract.
