George Conway Announces Plan To Run For Congress As Every Political Party, Will Decide Later

NEW YORK—In a press conference held simultaneously on MSNBC, Fox News, and a folding chair in Central Park, George Conway—formerly described as an anti-Trump Republican, conservative lawyer, and part-time Twitter philosopher—announced his candidacy for Congress as a Democrat, pausing only to note that he reserves the right to become a Libertarian, Green, or Whig by next month’s debate.

Conway, who rose to fame as the ex-husband of Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway and as co-founder of the Lincoln Project, declared his bid for New York’s 12th congressional district by promising voters “a rich tapestry of conflicting ideological backgrounds.” “I bring a unique perspective as someone who has opposed everyone, including myself, at various points,” Conway said, adjusting his red, white, and blue necktie that he insists has ‘no partisan implication.’

Conway’s campaign literature promises to represent “whatever the opposite of the thing the last guy said is,” offering policy proposals such as means-tested bipartisanship and refundable political opinions. “I like that George is willing to stand up to his own principles in order to challenge them,” said Midtown resident Greta Von Finkel. “It must be exhausting, but democracy is about exercising.”

Democratic rival Philip Yarborough III welcomed the competition, stating, “It’s a crowded field, and I hope George’s internal debates don’t result in too many negative attack ads against himself.”

Political historian Linda Zapplebaum weighed in, saying, “We haven’t seen this level of inter-party fluidity since that time Mitt Romney briefly considered becoming a Federalist. It’s a proud tradition.”

Conway declined to comment on whether he would also be running as an independent Write-In candidate under the alias ‘G. Conneway.’
