Sony Announces ‘Helldivers’ Movie, Promises Jason Momoa Will Punch At Least 6,000 Aliens to Appease Hardcore Fans

HOLLYWOOD—In a bold step for both cinema and video game adaptation purists, Sony Pictures confirmed Tuesday that Jason Momoa will star in the upcoming ‘Helldivers’ film, a live-action remake of the notoriously difficult video game. Producers have assured fans that Momoa will single-handedly uppercut an estimated 6,000 extraterrestrials to stay true to the spirit of the original game.

The movie, set for a November 2027 release, will be directed by Justin Lin, best known for making cars drive through skyscrapers. Lin promised similar realism with ‘Helldivers.’ “People may ask, ‘How is Jason Momoa supposed to kill this many aliens?’” said Lin at a press conference. “We plan to answer that with a two-hour, non-stop montage of alien punching, shooting, and at least three scenes where Momoa flexes so hard that nearby robots explode.”

Sony executive Brenda Maglione clarified that realism is secondary to one-liners and ‘visceral super explosions.’ “We’re adapting the game’s core message: friendship, democracy, and the right to carry a rocket launcher as emotional support,” Maglione explained. “There will be exactly zero minutes of talking about the plot.”

Leaked script pages show Momoa’s character, Sergeant Beef Thunder, exclaiming, ‘For managed democracy!’ before surfing a drop pod into a horde of space insects. ‘I can’t wait to watch Momoa yell at bugs for two hours,’ said self-described Helldivers purist D.J. Randle. “If he doesn’t accidentally shoot his own teammates, I’m walking out.”

Studio insiders report that the post-credits scene will feature Momoa accidentally calling in planetary artillery on the audience, setting up a sequel where everyone in the theater is drafted.
