MENLO PARK, CA—In a bold call for regulatory chill, Skydio CEO Adam Bry announced Monday that Silicon Valley must never—under any circumstances—draw red lines for drone use, insisting that ‘autonomous flying robots with cameras should be everywhere, always, watching, learning, definitely not developing sentience.’

‘It’s simple: The fewer rules, the more innovation,’ Bry explained at a press event while remotely piloting a Skydio X10 drone to peek through a nearby Chipotle window. ‘If you can’t trust a $25,000 autonomous surveillance bot hovering outside your bathroom, who can you trust?’

Industry supporters cheered the announcement. ‘Our new business model is based on the premise that everything can and should be monitored by winged gadgets,’ said Skydio Head of People Ops Anna Wiesenthal-Birch, who recently installed a drone inside her office Keurig. ‘We’re excited to fill America’s skies—and maybe your living room—with rugged, world-class robots.’

Critics, meanwhile, expressed concern about the lack of guardrails. ‘If these Silicon Valley types had their way, they’d sell flamethrower drones to toddlers,’ said local city councilman Brett Plimpton, adding, ‘I just wanted an affordable RC helicopter for my son, not a $15,000 flying Terminator.’

Despite public unease, Bry remains undeterred. ‘We’ll leave weaponization decisions to democratically elected officials and whoever types their credit card into our online checkout,’ he assured. ‘After all, what’s the worst that could happen—a little bit of innovation?’
