Democrats Demand Kristi Noem Resign, Suggest Replacing DHS with Angrily Shouting Protesters

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Citing a newfound appreciation for passionate, unscheduled outbursts, members of Congress have called for South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s immediate resignation and proposed that Homeland Security duties be turned over to ‘whichever heckler shouts the loudest during hearings.’

The dramatic suggestion came moments after a protester interrupted a House Homeland Security Committee meeting, giving Mississippi Representative Bennie Thompson just enough time to question Noem’s fitness for office before losing his train of thought to a spirited chant of ‘End the Deportations!’

“Frankly, I’ve seen more decisive action from that protester than I have from Governor Noem,” said Rep. Thompson. “When it comes to yelling at government officials, this nation needs real leadership from people who do not wait to be recognized by the chair.”

The protester, identified only as ‘Steve with the Red Bandana,’ has since been nominated as acting Secretary of Homeland Security. “I’m honored,” Steve said, addressing the press from atop a committee desk. “My first order is to abolish borders and double the number of microphones in every federal office.”

GOP officials expressed concern over the precedent. “If we let anyone who interrupts a meeting take over DHS, we’ll have to start giving security clearances to every guy named Doug who wanders in off the street,” warned Rep. Jerry Ruckert (R-KS).

Meanwhile, Governor Noem defended her record. “Have I detained Americans? Maybe. Have I deported anyone? I don’t recall. But I did once ban raccoons from the state fair,” she explained on Fox News.
