MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA—In what industry experts are calling the last gasp for human composers, Google announced this week that it has acquired ProducerAI, the Chainsmokers-approved artificial intelligence platform designed to generate music with the same precision, originality, and lyrical depth as a Bluetooth speaker at a frat party.
ProducerAI, which reportedly allows users to prompt the AI to ‘make something that sounds sort of like that one song from TikTok,’ will now operate under Google Labs. The company will pair ProducerAI’s generative power with its own Lyria 3 model, an upgrade capable of producing everything from chart-topping synth hooks to legally distinct yet suspiciously familiar imitations of ‘Closer.’
“We believe Lyria 3 can finally automate that unique Chainsmokers vibe—over-compressed, suspiciously upbeat, and maybe a little bit sad for some reason,” said Seth Forsgren, CEO of ProducerAI, who confirmed his next job would be ‘Chief Button Presser’ at Google.
Fans are excited. “This is huge,” said DJ Xylo, 19, a self-described ‘music disruptor’ from Miami. “Now anyone can type ‘make me a banger with a fake nostalgia chorus’ and instantly have something to play at Ultra.”
Even the Chainsmokers themselves weighed in via statement: “Honestly, we couldn’t tell the AI apart from us. Which is great—we’re tired.”
Google has not ruled out making ProducerAI capable of generating AI fans, AI Grammy speeches, or AI blog posts explaining why AI is killing music.
