LOS ANGELES — In a shocking twist that has sent tremors through the entertainment industry, actor-director Timothy Busfield was accused this week of inappropriate conduct on the set of the Fox drama ‘The Cleaning Lady,’ prompting many insiders to finally ask, “Wait, who is Timothy Busfield, again?”
Reports allege that Busfield, best known for his work in shows people’s parents barely remember, may have engaged in misconduct with two child actors on set. Fox executives were quick to respond, “We would like to emphasize that any inappropriate touching is generally reserved for the legal department, not the cast,” said publicist Sabrina Blatz. “We’re as shocked as anyone that The Cleaning Lady isn’t about erasing evidence.”
Production sources stated that the show’s title had led to confusion for years. “I just assumed ‘cleaning’ was a metaphor for sweeping scandals under the rug,” said assistant script supervisor Todd McGee. “Turns out there’s actual mopping, which is rare for a Fox drama.”
Meanwhile, ‘The Cleaning Lady’ fans on Reddit voiced outrage that the series had strayed from its wholesome themes. “We tune in for organized crime, not disorganized criminal behavior,” wrote user @mobwife23. “This isn’t what Tony Soprano’s housekeeper would have wanted.”
While Busfield awaits his court date, Fox says it will conduct a thorough internal investigation, provided ‘internal’ means “hoping this blows over by next pilot season.”
