LOS ANGELES — In a fiery press conference held inside what appeared to be the abandoned set of ‘Sin City’, Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke announced his intention to pursue those responsible for a fraudulent GoFundMe campaign bearing his name, vowing ‘punishments so theatrical, they’ll earn their own Cannes nomination.’
‘Payback will be severe,’ Rourke declared to a stunned assortment of journalists and former WWE tag team partners. ‘I’m not talking about lawsuits. I’m talking about something with motorcycles, pyrotechnics, and at least one slow-motion walk-in-leather-jacket scene.’
According to Rourke’s legal advisor, Vinnie ‘The Gavel’ Mancini, efforts are underway to reimburse the estimated 19 donors—including Rourke’s cousin Sal—who reportedly contributed a total of $47.83 to the campaign. ‘No one cons Mickey Rourke’s fans except Mickey Rourke’s agent,’ Mancini insisted, brandishing a laminated headshot for emphasis.
Meanwhile, digital forensics expert Dr. Brenda Chauncey has already constructed a 17-point plan to track the scam’s mastermind. ‘Our leads point to a Latvian botnet, a retired Elvis impersonator, or possibly Eric Roberts,’ Chauncey explained. ‘Either way, this will make for a thrilling third-act twist.’
Die-hard Rourke fan and self-proclaimed ‘Digital Vigilante’, Chad Brimley, has also offered support: ‘These scammers messed with the wrong Ram. I just spent my entire gig-economy paycheck on a commemorative “Justice for Mickey” tank top, so I know this is personal.’
