NFL Approves Plan For Browns, Dolphins, Jets To Share Single Playbook Titled ‘Hope & Despair’

In a historic move aimed at maximizing efficiency and minimizing heartbreak, the NFL announced Wednesday that the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets will officially begin sharing one communal playbook, tentatively titled ‘Hope & Despair,’ for the remainder of the 21st century.

According to league sources, the three storied franchises—who boast a combined 0 Super Bowl appearances since Y2K and an impressive 91 quarterbacks tried—agreed to the joint playbook after reviewing their identical records of futility and realizing they’ve been running the same 3-yard draw on 3rd and 12 since 2001 anyway. The playbook, hand-illustrated in crayon, features cutting-edge strategies such as “Throw Ball Somewhere Near Receiver” and “Let God Handle Fourth Quarter.”

“We discovered we were all plagiarizing each other when we compared notes,” admitted Dolphins offensive coordinator, Todd Fumbling. “Why waste resources when we can all just call ‘Punt Formation’ on second down and get it over with?”

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, fresh off a 13-sack afternoon, was enthusiastic: “It’s comforting to know we’re not alone. Now, when we call ‘Double Reverse Fumble,’ I’ll think of my brothers in Cleveland and Miami.”

Fans have mostly responded with resignation. “Honestly, I’d be happy with a shared playbook if it came with a refund on the last 22 years,” said lifelong Browns fan Margo Dawgz, while Dolphins diehard Kenny Laces added, “My therapist says sharing is healthy.”

NFL officials insist the unique partnership will help the three teams ‘circulate the wagons’ more efficiently, though no one could confirm if any of these teams actually own a wagon, or simply continue circling in place.
