Peacock Launches ‘Bugonia’ to Target Elusive Demographic of Paranoid CEOs Kidnapped by Conspiracy Theorists

Peacock announced Tuesday that its highly anticipated psychological thriller ‘Bugonia,’ starring Emma Stone, will premiere on December 26, just in time for Oscar season and the annual spike in billionaire abductions.

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos—who asked that the film be marketed exclusively via encrypted burner phones—’Bugonia’ follows Michelle Fuller, a wealthy CEO who is kidnapped by two men who believe all CEOs are robots designed by Jeff Bezos. The captors, armed with aluminum-foil hats and five QAnon podcasts, attempt to extract the truth using nothing but scented candles and a suspiciously long PowerPoint.

“We wanted to create a film that really speaks to the anxieties of America’s wealthiest one percent,” explained fictional Peacock content executive Leslie Travers. “Statistically, at least 40% of CEOs have been briefly detained by men who think they’re part of the Deep State. Finally, they’ll feel seen.”

Industry insiders note that Peacock originally considered launching the film on Truth Social, but switched to their own platform after discovering Emma Stone’s character was not, in fact, played by a lizard in a human suit. “It’s rare that we get to see a protagonist who’s both a hostage and a human LinkedIn profile,” said made-up film critic Bryce Flannigan. “It’s refreshing.”

Emma Stone herself claims she prepared for the role by attempting to access her own bank account using only a string of conspiracy keywords. “Turns out my birthday is not the code to the Illuminati vault,” she confessed in an exclusive interview.
