‘Real Housewives’ Star Revealed to Be Running Ordinary American Mega-Church, Experts Livid at Lack of Innovation

SALT LAKE CITY—Viewers of TLC’s new docuseries were left underwhelmed Monday as allegations surfaced that ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ star Mary Cosby was merely running the standard issue, cult-like American church operation, sparking heated debate about her supposed originality.

According to former Faith Temple Pentecostal Church members, Cosby’s church demonstrated unremarkable levels of financial exploitation, mind control, and mandatory pastel formalwear, with one observer likening the group to “the TGI Fridays of religious cults.”

“I expected something groundbreaking, you know?” commented Dr. Lyle Tran, an expert in Religious Business Models. “But this is just classic American televangelism. Hand over your paycheck, buy a commemorative mug, and wait for the apocalypse. There’s not even a snake-handling segment.”

Ex-member Janine Rollins reported being asked to donate her life savings in exchange for a limited-edition autographed prayer shawl and a chance to touch Cosby’s designer handbag. “Honestly, it felt less like spiritual enlightenment and more like a Black Friday sale at Nordstrom,” she recalled. “If I wanted to be exploited, I’d go shopping.”

Cosby herself defended her leadership style as “uniquely glamorous.” “Every church exploits its flock,” Cosby said in a prepared statement. “But we do it with Swarovski crystal offering plates and a GIF slideshow of my favorite shoes.”

The docuseries concludes with experts agreeing that, as far as American religious scams go, Cosby’s church rates as “adequately flashy but ultimately derivative.”
