In a historic partnership announced Tuesday, Major League Baseball will deepen its relationship with TikTok by having Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani personally re-enact pivotal World Series moments through viral dances and lip-syncs. The move, described by both organizations as “the future of baseball,” is part of MLB’s ongoing effort to engage fans who think a “hit and run” is just another GTA V challenge.
The new MLB TikTok hub will feature exclusive content including bespoke Ohtani choreography, influencer reaction videos titled “Baseball, but Make It Snackable,” and in-depth player analyses delivered exclusively via dance challenges. “Our research shows young audiences have an average attention span of nine seconds, which incidentally is the same amount of time between each pitch,” said MLB Digital Strategist Courtney Phapp. “This partnership ensures that every moment from bunts to bench-clearing brawls is condensed into an easily consumable musical montage.”
TikTok spokesperson Sunny Leung confirmed that Ohtani will debut his first routine, tentatively titled “Walk-Off Shuffle,” immediately following the opening game, adding, “We’re blending the timeless allure of baseball with the irresistible power of thirst traps. Prepare to thirst for RBIs.”
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred expressed confidence in the plan. “We fully expect ‘Double Play Duets’ to revolutionize how America ignores baseball,” said Manfred, while preparing to launch the first official MLB hat filter. “This is what Ty Cobb would have wanted. Probably. If he’d understood what a phone was.”
According to sources, the league has already signed an exclusive bat-flip collab with Addison Rae, and there are persistent rumors that Umpire Joe West will narrate the rulebook via ASMR.
