Trump Campaign Manager Ends Legal Battle With Daily Beast Upon Learning Lawsuits Don’t Actually Make News Stories Disappear

WASHINGTON, D.C.—In a shocking turn of events that has upended expectations across the entire legal profession, Trump 2024 co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita has reportedly dropped his high-profile defamation suit against the Daily Beast after realizing that suing a newsroom does not, in fact, erase published articles from the internet, nor does it provide a large cartoon-style sack of hush money.

“Initially, we believed we could just sue the story out of existence,” LaCivita explained, gently caressing a stack of invoices from his consulting firm. “But apparently, that’s not how journalism, reality, or the first amendment works. Some things aren’t covered in campaign school.”

The Daily Beast, which has not retracted its original reporting on LaCivita’s consulting fees, issued a brief, non-apologetic statement: “We regret nothing. Our editors would have commented further, but they are currently busy counting all the page views.”

LaCivita’s legal team quietly withdrew the suit Friday, opting instead for a new media strategy known as ‘ignoring it really hard.’ “Chris will now focus on more proven methods of reputation repair, such as occasionally wearing sunglasses indoors and using the phrase ‘fake news’ at brunch,” said campaign spokesperson Linda Juggerson.

Meanwhile, legal analyst Trey Winkle theorized, “This bold move could inspire a new era of lawsuits in which plaintiffs simply withdraw their cases preemptively to avoid the risk of anyone reading court documents. It’s a masterstroke of damage non-control.”

At press time, LaCivita was reportedly considering suing Google for listing the article in search results, before quietly closing his laptop and staring into the middle distance.
