‘Life Is Strange’ TV Series to Faithfully Adapt 900 Hours of Awkward Teen Dialogue, Director Promises

Amazon Prime Video announced Thursday that acclaimed director Karyn Kusama will helm the first two episodes of the upcoming ‘Life Is Strange’ TV adaptation, vowing to meticulously recreate the game’s legendary 900-hour stretch of self-conscious teenage muttering, aimless wandering, and optional banter about photography class.

“Our writers have spent weeks playing through the game to ensure we include every emotionally fraught conversation about recycling bins and indie bands no one’s heard of,” said Kusama, who reportedly demanded the crew stock 45 Polaroid cameras and 8,000 plaid shirts for authenticity. “I want viewers to feel like they’re truly trapped in a high school with no escape, just like in the source material.”

Amazon Studios executives remain excited for what insiders are calling ‘Peak Brooding.’ “We’ve greenlit an entire episode dedicated to the main character choosing which indie record to buy at the shop,” said series executive producer Daphne Stiles. “We fully expect audiences to argue online for years about whether Max should have picked Sonic Youth or ‘something obscure, like The Shins.’”

Fan consultant Brayden-Emo McIntire praised the attention to detail. “They even got the part where you can water a houseplant, but if you water it too much it dies. That’s the soul of the game,” he said. “Finally, television that captures the paralyzing anxiety of overwatering foliage.”

Filming begins this summer in an abandoned Oregon art supply store. Amazon Prime has not yet confirmed rumors that the show will periodically freeze, forcing viewers to choose dialogue options using their remote.
