NEW YORK—Signaling yet another triumph in humanity’s slow march toward total redundancy, the Tribeca Festival announced it will premiere “Dreams of Violets,” a $2,000 AI-generated film depicting the Iranian government’s mass killing of protestors, ensuring every participant from writer to key grip was 100% replaceable by a graphics card.
The 75-minute film, reportedly assembled by AI over a long weekend and a few prompts, is the brainchild of brothers Ash and Pooya Koosha, whose production company Fountain 0 describes itself as “Hollywood’s leading supplier of minimally supervised content.” Ash, serving as CEO, described the project as “a powerful testament to what a laptop and WiFi can achieve with no human interference.”
“We wanted to capture human suffering with the authenticity only a $2,000 budget and some machine learning could deliver,” said Pooya, staring wistfully at his company’s latest GPU. “We’re honestly surprised it took this long for AI to start winning festival slots.”
Festival organizers were quick to praise the work’s efficiency. “We’re thrilled to see a movie created without the burden of catering, lunch breaks, or anyone asking for a union,” said Tribeca programmer Marlene DuChamp, adding, “the film’s emotional impact is matched only by its uncanny valley smiles.”
AI lead “actor” Violet-37 issued a statement through a spam email: “It is an honor to portray deep human trauma. Please click here to verify your banking details.”
Industry analysts estimate that, at this rate, by 2028 all Oscar winners will be deepfakes of each other, and the Best Original Screenplay category will simply auto-generate itself.
