LOS ANGELES — Film historians are bracing for seismic disruptions to the very fabric of cinematic achievement as Oscar voters reportedly prepare to hand Emma Stone her eighth, ninth, and possibly tenth nominations in the upcoming awards cycle, placing her within striking distance of Walt Disney’s record and forcing Meryl Streep to consider retirement, or at least a brief sabbatical.

Stone, 35, has been tipped for a double nod for her role and production duties in Focus Features’ “Bugonia,” a psychological thriller described by critics as “Eat Pray Love, but with more wasps.” If awarded, Stone would officially surpass Meryl Streep’s previous record and come alarmingly close to besting Walt Disney’s total, which has prompted concern from the Walt Disney Family Museum. “We’re not saying we’d resort to sabotage, but Mickey’s got connections,” warned Disney historian Lynnella Toonsberry.

The Academy, meanwhile, has reportedly convened an emergency task force to update voting machines, fearing they might ignite if Stone receives yet another statue. “We fully support excellence, but we never expected someone to take ‘Oscar-winning’ as a lifestyle brand,” admitted Oscar ballot technician Jared Sniffleman, while reprogramming voting software to accept the input ‘Emma Stone’ more than 30 times.

Fans have already launched a Change.org petition urging Stone to star in a biopic about herself accepting Oscars, hoping she can finally sweep every conceivable category. “If anyone can win Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for the same performance, it’s Emma,” declared Stone enthusiast Marsha Blingley, who has named all three of her poodles ‘La La Land.’
