Fed Chair Nominee Kevin Warsh Denies Being Sock Puppet, Displays Full Set of Limbs During Senate Hearing

WASHINGTON—Attempting to deflect accusations of being a ‘sock puppet’ for former President Donald Trump, Federal Reserve Chair nominee Kevin Warsh dramatically waved all ten fingers during a fiery Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday.

Senate Banking Committee members pressed Warsh on his $100 million in assets, Fed independence, and whether he can in fact move independently from his purported puppeteer. “Let the record show I have arms, legs, and even personal thoughts,” Warsh stated, rotating his shoulders stiffly. When pressed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on the 2020 election results, Warsh responded, “I’d love to answer, but I’m currently focused on interest rates and knots.”

Sources close to the White House insisted Warsh was chosen for his ‘flexibility and reliability.’ “Kevin’s always been good at holding a line, especially when it’s attached to a presidential wrist,” said senior advisor Chad Jergenstein. Meanwhile, an anonymous aide confirmed, “We did vet several other candidates—one was a ventriloquist dummy and another was a strong-willed mitten. Ultimately, Kevin seemed the least flammable.”

Warsh, who declined to disclose the location of his offshore accounts, also refused to confirm if he’d raise rates or just wait for a hand signal. “Heck, I just hope he doesn’t shrink in the wash,” added Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), eyeing the nominee’s pristine argyle suit.

Senators remain divided, but sources say the hearing will reconvene once enough quarters are found for the metered parking outside the Capitol.
