LOS ANGELES—Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced Wednesday that the highly anticipated sequel to last year’s box office juggernaut, ‘A Minecraft Movie,’ will officially be titled ‘A Minecraft Movie Squared,’ assuring fans that both creativity and basic geometry remain at the franchise’s core.

The sequel, again starring Jack Black as Redstone Ron and Jason Momoa as Steve, reportedly expands the cinematic universe by introducing crucial new features: more squares, opening credits made entirely of cubes, and twice as many scenes of characters mining desperately for the sweet release of diamonds. “We wanted to push the boundaries of what’s possible and also what’s tolerable,” explained director Pixellina Brix, who reportedly delivered the script to studio execs on a USB shaped like a pickaxe. “This is the first film ever to be storyboarded entirely on graph paper.”

When pressed for details, head screenwriter Chad ‘Brickhead’ McCrafty elaborated, “The plot is simple: our misfit heroes must rebuild their world after a creeper explodes the fourth wall, literally. Expect more emotional crafting montages and at least 14 minutes dedicated to sheep shearing.”

Early test audiences warned that the sequel’s 244-minute runtime might be challenging for non-Mineraftians. “During the 3D cave-digging sequence, I achieved a new understanding of boredom as an art form,” said beta viewer Susan Cobblestone, adding, “But the zombie pigmen were relatable.”

Not all feedback was positive. Professor Brandon Blockowitz, head of Film Geometry at MIT, lamented, “This movie has done for squares what Avatar did for blue people—made me question my career choices.”

‘A Minecraft Movie Squared’ is set to premiere in 2026, debuting exclusively in cube-shaped theaters across North America.
