Whirlpool CEO Claims Americans Can’t Buy Toasters Unless Middle East Is at Peace

In a stunning display of global interconnectedness, appliance giant Whirlpool announced this week that escalating tensions in the Middle East have rendered Americans physically incapable of buying new refrigerators, dishwashers, or even mid-tier blenders. The company warned of a “recession-level” slump, citing the universal law that all consumer confidence evaporates as soon as foreign policy gets complicated.

Whirlpool CEO Arnold ‘Arnie’ Platt told investors, “When Americans see news headlines about Iran, their first instinct is to eat cold, un-toasted Pop-Tarts and simply soldier on with that noisy washing machine. It’s basic psychology.”

To stabilize earnings, the company responded by hiking prices 10%, with another 4% increase on the way. Chief Financial Officer Melanie Brinks elaborated: “We believe the best way to comfort anxious Americans is to make their essential appliances less affordable and remind them of global instability every time they open their freezer.”

Industry analyst Trent Gibbons explained, “Generally speaking, average families refuse to invest in a new KitchenAid mixer during periods of uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz. This is textbook economics.”

Some customers remain unconvinced. Local consumer Theresa Gorman complained, “How am I supposed to afford a new Maytag when I have to Google ‘Iran’ every morning? These are hard times.”

Whirlpool closed its announcement by noting that, should hostilities escalate, a limited edition ‘Peace On Earth’ line of microwaves will be available starting at $1,899.
