Ambulance Cart Injures Second Player, Immediately Nominated For Next Season’s Starting Forward

QUITO, ECUADOR—Chaos erupted during Saturday’s LigaPro match after a medical cart, rushing to aid injured striker Luis Zambrano, heroically plowed into teammate Sergio López—knocking the midfielder to the ground and briefly sending the home crowd into an existential crisis.

Witnesses report that after paramedics carefully loaded Zambrano onto the cart at midfield, López, eager to check on his friend, stepped directly into the vehicle’s path. Driver Jorge Andrade, unfazed by the collision, shrugged and continued rolling at 2 mph toward the tunnel, heedless of the new, slightly larger pile of battered soccer players. “I didn’t see him,” Andrade claimed at a press conference held atop the very cart in question. “To be fair, the horn doesn’t work, I took a wrong turn at the corner flag, and frankly, I thought I was in the parking lot.”

Referee Antonio Villalobos, forced to consult VAR to determine whether the cart was offside, ultimately declared a drop ball and recommended ‘helmet use’ for all players. “We’ve been warning the league about the Mario Kart-style driving for years,” Villalobos said, pausing to issue a yellow card to the cart for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Club manager Raul Sandoval expressed cautious optimism. “Honestly, the cart’s got better aim than half my forwards. I’ll be putting it through shooting drills Monday,” he said, carefully avoiding the technical area for fear of further vehicular mishaps.

Sources say Zambrano and López are recovering well, both eager to return—though they reportedly now check both ways before crossing midfield.
