In a high-stakes briefing Wednesday night, White House press secretary Haley Leavitt assured the nation that President Donald Trump’s persistent focus on the 2020 election is not a sign of obsession, but rather an expression of his love for American history, especially the parts where he wins.
“President Trump simply appreciates tradition,” Leavitt explained while unfurling a timeline of the 2020 election results behind her. “Some presidents read biographies. He prefers to relive his own. Constantly. Publicly. For years.”
Leavitt insisted that the president’s upcoming primetime address would offer a ‘fresh perspective’ on the US electoral process, featuring a PowerPoint presentation titled ‘Why I Actually Won: The Slides You Never Saw.’ According to a leaked itinerary, the address will revisit familiar themes, including graphs, pie charts, and a dramatic reenactment of Election Night performed by a local improv troupe.
When asked if the administration planned to address current issues such as rising fuel prices, Leavitt assured reporters, “President Trump remains deeply concerned about the price of diesel, especially as it relates to transporting framed copies of the Arizona audit.”
Ben Jorgensen, senior advisor for Historical Reimaginings, added, “If Americans don’t occasionally refuse to accept the past, are we even a democracy?”
Meanwhile, local voter and aspiring amateur historian Craig Fusco expressed relief. “Frankly, I’m glad the president’s stuck on 2020,” Fusco said. “It’s the last time he returned my emails.”
