LOS ANGELES — Academy Award-nominated actor Danielle Brooks announced Thursday the launch of her new video podcast, ‘The InnerMission,’ taking place exclusively in her home movie theater because ‘the spiritual journey through life’s liminal spaces pairs well with Dolby Atmos surround sound.’
Brooks, who apparently did not get enough attention from winning Grammys, starring in blockbuster films, and receiving Tony, Emmy and Oscar nods, will now explore ‘the beautiful, messy and necessary in-between moments’ by reading her guests’ emotional aura as they settle into oversized leather recliners. ‘Sometimes, when life forces our curtains closed, all it takes is a $65 popcorn bucket and a chat about childhood trauma to process it,’ Brooks explained to a barely blinking Variety reporter.
The inaugural episode will feature Brooks interviewing herself about her childhood fear of sticky floors. ‘I realized my inner child was crushed when I discovered the Raisinets box was empty,’ she confided to herself, pausing only to adjust the digital projection settings.
‘It’s groundbreaking to see Danielle bravely pause and awkwardly stare into the existential abyss between movie previews,’ said celebrity wellness influencer Zayden Lightlynn, whose episode will focus on ‘finding meaning in previews for films that never get released.’
Sources confirm Brooks is already fielding offers from fellow celebrities hoping to discuss their in-between moments, such as ‘that weird silence after a standing ovation’ and ‘the five minutes before your Uber arrives.’ As Brooks put it, ‘If Oprah can have a couch, I can have a popcorn machine.’
