NEW YORK—Following the record-shattering SpaceX IPO on Wall Street, Elon Musk made history Tuesday by becoming the world’s first trillionaire, reportedly gaining enough wealth to single-handedly purchase several small countries, the entirety of the Vatican Archives, and the intellectual property rights to at least three Marvel superhero teams.
“It’s about time I diversified my portfolio beyond Earth,” Musk commented from a golden Tesla Roadster atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 launchpad. “I’m excited to negotiate a merger between Greenland and Wakanda by Q3.”
The IPO valued SpaceX at approximately $4 trillion, instantly catapulting Musk’s net worth to a level previously reserved for comic-book villains, divine beings, or the annual GDP of Western Europe. Wall Street reacted by suspending normal trading, instead auctioning off the New York Stock Exchange’s naming rights to Musk for a modest $99 billion. “He asked if he could call it ‘The Musk Pit.’ We said, ‘Sure,’” said NYSE spokesperson Linda Vort.
Global authorities scrambled to update financial software, with the International Monetary Fund’s servers reportedly “melting into crude oil” by midday. “We originally planned to regulate monopolies, but at this point, it’s simpler to just onboard him as a G8 nation,” explained IMF analyst Trevor Duckwald.
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios denied rumors that Musk was drafting a screenplay for ‘Iron Man vs. Papal Guards.’
