Secretary Burgum Insists 250th ‘Nonpartisan’ Independence Concert Will Be Fair and Balanced, Just Like Trump’s Playlist

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Interior Secretary Doug Burgum assured the public Sunday that the upcoming 250th anniversary concert series, inspired by America’s commitment to liberty and Kid Rock, is an entirely nonpartisan event, despite accidentally billing it as the “2024 Trump Rally: Live Featuring Ted Nugent and Some People Who Owe Favors.”

Burgum, who defended his refusal to disclose the mysterious donors, explained, “The funding comes from Americans who love this country—and who happen to own several beachfront golf courses and a crypto wallet, but I fail to see how that’s relevant.”

Many artists reportedly withdrew from the lineup after learning their performance would be sandwiched between Donald Trump’s two-hour monologue on the dangers of windmills and a 45-minute reenactment of the Boston Tea Party using Goya beans. Burgum bristled at accusations of bias, stating, “I don’t know why musicians think playing a medley of ‘Proud to Be an American’ and ‘YMCA’ would favor one side. Freedom’s a banger for everyone.”

One potential performer, DJ RedCap, said, “I thought this was a cool gig until they told me I’d have to wear a Betsy Ross apron while spinning remixes of Truth Social posts.” Meanwhile, anonymous event sponsor V. Putinovich praised the programming as, “Very festive. Very American. Absolutely no meddling.”

Deputy Organizer Madison Jefferson-Musk clarified, “Anyone is welcome to perform, as long as their setlist includes at least three songs referencing American greatness, one veiled jab at Taylor Swift, and a multi-media tribute to Trump Steaks.”

Officials confirmed the event remains nonpartisan, noting only that attendees with blue hats must enter through a separate, less scenic entrance.
