Transgender Athlete Claims Teammate’s C In Algebra Caused By ‘Negative Vibes’ From Cafeteria Salad

SAN JOSE, CA—Controversy erupted on the San Jose State University track team this week after Blaire Fleming, former sprinter and current Trans Rights Outreach Liaison, publicly alleged that teammate Brooke Slusser’s academic struggles and rumored eating disorder were, in fact, caused by an underdressed cafeteria salad and the overall energy of the locker room.

“People overlook the power of emotional calories,” Fleming announced at a hastily arranged press conference held by the campus smoothie bar. “I just know Brooke’s GPA took a hit after her kale got downgraded to iceberg lettuce. It’s all connected.”

The disputed claims, which spread rapidly on social media under the hashtag #SaladSabotage, have drawn criticism from teammates and university officials alike. “I barely know Blaire. I was literally just stressed about midterms and the fact that Coach keeps calling me ‘Becky’ by mistake,” commented Slusser, who admitted she prefers spinach to iceberg, but denies the existence of any sinister salad plot.

Athletics Director Frank Donnelly, attempting to quell the controversy, issued a statement: “We take all allegations about leafy greens and GPA fluctuations seriously. An independent panel of nutritionists, spiritualists, and calculus TAs will be convened.”

Meanwhile, another teammate, Jenny Liu, voiced her frustration with the unfolding drama: “Honestly, I just wish someone would blame my C-minus on the vending machine Cheetos. It’d be nice to get a little attention, you know?”

At press time, SJSU’s counseling center reported a record number of students seeking help for “lettuce-related trauma.”
