Middle East Conflict Officially Reclassified as ‘Perpetual Background Noise’ by Global Powers

In a move hailed as ‘long overdue for scheduling efficiency,’ major global powers have reclassified the ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran as ‘Perpetual Background Noise’ to be addressed only during commercial breaks of more pressing events like oil market fluctuations and celebrity elections.

The decision, announced Friday at the World Geopolitics Planning Brunch, means future ceasefires will be preemptively broken via group chat before even being negotiated, saving valuable time for all parties. ‘Frankly, it’s just more practical,’ explained US Undersecretary for Diplomacy, Chip Bluster. ‘We used to check in once every few months, but now we’ll just set a recurring Google Calendar alert for ‘Middle East Spiral, 2050–infinity.”

Regional leaders expressed mild confusion but ultimately acceptance of their new existential status. ‘We’re basically the world’s elevator music at this point,’ said Beirut-based analyst Dalia Spleen. ‘Occasionally the volume spikes, but mostly people are just hoping it doesn’t interrupt their dinner.’

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the International Distraction Fund, Jörg Bannister, praised the streamlining. ‘By demoting these crises to background processes, we can finally focus on things that matter, like Taylor Swift’s carbon footprint and counting Bitcoin.’

Reports suggest that residents of affected regions now plan to adapt by investing in noise-cancelling headphones and participating in global protests scheduled for mid-October, assuming the planetary schedule allows.
